Beck
Happy for "The OC" Exposure
3/29/05
Beck has defended his decision to drop his tough stance on the use of
songs in TV shows and allow producers of hit drama The OC the right to
play his music.
The pioneering artist has regularly rejected requests to incorporate
his tunes into TV shows and adverts, but gave his permission to bosses of
the teenage series starring Mischa Barton after approving of the previous
artists picked for exposure on the program.
Five songs from his new album Guero aired for the first time during a
10 March (05) episode of the teen soap in America.
He says, "Usually I'm wary of TV shows or licensing songs. I
didn't know much about the show, but there were all these bands whose
music was on the show who I never thought would be on the show and
apparently, the gentleman who puts the music together has excellent
taste." |
