Deems Making the Band More Entertaining than American Idol
3/29/05
Sean 'P Diddy Combs believes his talent search show Making the Band is
far more entertaining than American Idol - because it's based more on
reality and less on "fluff-fluff".
The rap mogul, whose show is now in its third season, believes the
format of his show - where contenders live together as they battle for a
position in a group - is more appealing to the average viewer than a
conventional TV competition.
He says, "(My show) is a little bit more underground than American
Idol 'cause it shows you the truth in what it takes to become a superstar,
like all of the trials and tribulations.
"I like some of the artists that came out of American Idol. I like
the whole premise of it. But Making the Band, I'm like their competitor,
I'm their competition 'cause I give you the real, raw truth about the
music industry.
None of this fluff-fluff stuff. None of that, baby."
