Lisa Marie Presley Talks With MSNBC about Her Music Career  3/31/05

LISA MARIE PRESLEY TALKS WITH MSNBC'S CLAUDIA DIFOLCO ABOUT TRYING TO CREATE HER OWN IDENTITY IN HER MUSIC CAREER

SECAUCUS, NJ-March 31, 2005-In an interview with MSNBC's Claudia DiFolco on this Sunday's "MSNBC Entertainment Hot List," Lisa Marie Presley describes how growing up as Elvis Presley's daughter and her high-profile marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage have impacted her career and the way she is perceived by the public.

"MSNBC Entertainment Hot List" telecasts Sundays, 12-1 pm ET, repeating 5-6 pm ET on MSNBC.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY: Every single thing comes out. I'm associated with something...you know what I mean? Marriage this, my heritage that, my family name, everything. My this, my mom, there's always something to associate me with...

CLAUDIA DIFOLCO: If I had to put myself in your shoes, I would worry that people would think...they're coming to see me out of curiosity, they're not coming for my music. They probably won't even listen to me. Were you afraid of that?

LISA MARIE PRESLEY: Yes, deathly. As being a side show...yes, and I thought, you know I'm pretty sensitive to energy and I felt like if that is there, I'll feel it. And then I don't want to be disrespectful on stage or get upset, but I was ready for that and it never happened.

CLAUDIA DIFOLCO: Do you realize that the resemblance to your dad sometimes is pleasantly eerie?

LISA MAIRE PRESLEY: Yes, yes, yes, you know, last night I was watching this footage of my rehearsal yesterday and I was, and my leg was going. And it was the first time I noticed it. It was going and I had no idea that I was even doing that. And I was like, will you stop with the leg! Over and over...and I just have to set the record straight. My lip does that. It will do that; it's done that my whole life. I'm not practicing. I'm not trying. Bill Idol does it, why can't he get nailed for that? He does it good.
