American Idol March 7th  “Eight Women Brawl”  3/8/06

By Marcus

The pressure continues tonight because two of these women will be voted one-way tickets home. Here is a brief recap.

Tomboy Princess Paris continues to fire us up. With her new hair, piercing eyes and robin egg blue dress, she sang and danced to our full content. She is a total package.

Inspired by Jimmy Hendrix’s electric guitar, Lisa wasn’t quite focused. She seemed to be working too hard and didn’t exude the flow that we expected. She wobbled all over the last word of her song and could not find her balance.

Five on the floor stick shifting Melissa was dressed in a cold black vest with a sparkling diamond belly button stud. She woke us up. She generated enough torque and excitement to blow a head gasket.

Chitling eating Kinnik was dull, flat and tired. It is way too late in this game to play it safe. And tonight, playing it safe guarantees “you are out.”

Fun singing and “I am not pregnant” Katherine is still in the race. She has great voice control and she really enjoyed singing to us. But I just don’t see myself watching her perform for 30 minutes. She is not that special.

Ayla was weak tonight. Her words became lost and they almost were muted by the background music. She actually sounded like a little girl and not the powerful athlete that we love and admire.

Ah, the polished and dynamic voice of Mandisa has set the high water mark for this contest. She is ready to go on tour, right now. This woman is becoming our idol favorite.

Kellie’s lazy pet dog Comet may become the next Lassie because this young vivacious, unpretentious singer is hot. She has the moves we watch. She beckons to us and we follow. And when she performs, we dance. She has the entire package of a sure winner.

I don’t think the American audience will have any real problem in saying goodbye to two of the contestants. But after those adios, the picking becomes more painful.
