A
Hurricane Damaged Home is Replaced on Extreme Makeover Home Edition
3/13/06
A CANCER STRICKEN MAN WHOSE DYING WISH IS TO FIX UP HIS HOUSE RAVAGED
BY HURRICANE WILMA WILL RECEIVE A NEW HOME THANKS TO ABC'S "EXTREME
MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION"
Reggae Music Star Damian Marley Performs a Special Concert
Jamaican-born Dunstin Rainford of Riviera Beach, FL had just fulfilled
his lifelong dream of becoming a U.S. Citizen when the unthinkable
happened. Dunstin, a one-time hospice nurse's aide, was diagnosed with
Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, an unpredictable lymphatic cancer. His dying wish to
provide a happy and safe home for his family will now be granted by the
team of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," airing SUNDAY, MARCH
19 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Throughout his treatments, Dunstin has stayed positive, telling his
children that something good would come out of this horrific situation.
The children believed him until Hurricane Wilma ravaged their home in
September, tearing off a portion of their roof and destroying the
interior. Prior to the hurricane and to his diagnosis, Dunstin had been
trying to fix up his home one room at a time, but now every last penny has
gone to the roof and his medical expenses. There is nothing left to
rebuild this dad's dream for his children.
Always the hard worker and dedicated father, Dunstin has a strong
desire to live. However he is not frightened of death, and has made the
arrangements for his children to live with his sister, if he dies. But
Dunstin is worried about leaving his family in an unsafe house.
The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team will grant this
loving father's dying wish to fix his home for his children and hopefully
lift their spirits as well. As a celebration of life, Grammy Award-winning
reggae music star Damian Marley performs for the family after the house
reveal in a Jamaican beach-themed party.
While Ty and the gang, local builder Majestic Homes, and hundreds of
workers and volunteers transform the Rainfords' house into a dream home,
the family will go on vacation to Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition" will feature team leader Ty Pennington, Michael Moloney,
Paige Hemmis, Eduardo Xol and Daniel Kucan.
The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding.
It's executive-produced by Tom Forman and co-executive produced by Denise
Cramsey. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. "Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via
secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental
guideline.
