Master P Escapes Jail Time  3/14/06

Rap brothers Master P, real name Percy Miller, and Silkk the Shocker have pleaded no contest to weapons charges in Los Angeles.

The Miller siblings were arrested last year (05) after police found unregistered guns in a car the pair were driving during a routine search of the vehicle.

The brothers faced up to three years in state prison if convicted, but escaped felony charges by agreeing to the no contest plea in court this morning (13MAR06).

Master P's conviction was reduced to a misdemeanor and he was sentenced to serve a day in jail, which he'll avoid due to the credit he has for time served.

Master P, a recent contestant on Dancing With the Stars, will also have to pay a $700 fine and he has been sentenced to serve 40 hours of community service either with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts or speaking to high school students about the dangers of guns.

His brother, real name Vyshon Miller, was placed on three years felony probation and ordered to pay a fine and serve the same community service as his brother.
