Jean
and Shakira Combine Caribbean Cultures
3/23/06
Grammy-Award winning musician Wyclef Jean reluctantly took time out
from his charity work in Haiti, to collaborate with Shakira on her latest
album.
The hip-hop star founded his charitable organization, Yele Haiti, last
year (05), to help residents of his homeland with employment, education
and environmental issues.
He explains, "I've been in Haiti doing a lot of charity work.
Shakira took me out of Haiti and brought me back to America and we made My
Hips Don't Lie."
The Colombian singer now lives in the Bahamas and the two artists share
a love of Caribbean culture and wanted to collaborate on a song that
brought it to life.
He adds, "It's the perfect combination. It's the best of the
Caribbean here, it don't get no better than this!"
