American
Idol March 21st “Half a Century Ago” 3/22/06
By
Marcus
Tonight we are blasted back not ten, not twenty, not thirty or
forty years ago,
but
half a century ago to relive and re-experience some incredible music song
by the hopeful eleven. Here is
my recap:
Sexy bejeweled Mandisa rattled and stirred the beast locked within
our bodies. Like an old experienced jungle hunter, she captured us. Then
she set us free. Next she
flirted with our passionate response to her full powerful tones and
captured us again. She has set the American Idol standard and I want to
buy her first CD.
With his meat grinder voice, Bucky swallowed some of his words and
maybe because someone trimmed his hair a little too much, he was weakened.
And we were bored.
Ah, that
Paris
. When she talks, she sounds like a young girl, but oh man when that woman
sings, she fires at us with a galleon’s cannon
broadside lobbing round after round of hot vocals. And her moves
and sways make us love her even more. She gave me fever, baby. And she
will be among the last standing contestants.
Chris’ intensity claws at our useless resistance. He rips open
our chests, lingers and leers over our hearts, and then he rips out that
pulsating globe and steals it. Why is this man not already on tour? He is
so ready.
Warm inviting sparkling eyes, high full cheeks, a gently placed
nose and inviting lips, Katharine has almost the whole package. Her voice
entertains and keeps our attention. But she was lacking stage command.
Rather than using the stage in a sexy manner, she appeared to be forcing
her walk in a rather stiff and for her, uncomfortable manner. She could
use attention to dressing better to show off her appealing figure. After
all, she wants to be a performer not just a singer. Thus she needs to
advertise all her assets.
Leaping hound dog
Taylor
’s dancing and singing revealed to us that
this man is like a perfectly seasoned steak. That is, a seasoned
performer. His duet with the sax and then his dash into the audience kept
our attention. And being a star requires just what he is able to
do----keep us entertained. But, he doesn’t have the best male voice.
Dressed like a 50’s car hop, Lisa redeemed herself. Singing
beautifully and moving about the stage like a veteran artist, her self
reassurance has significantly improve. Overall, no fireworks but she was
so much improved.
He is the guaranteed hiccup cure. How and why Kevin stays in this
contest is beyond my comprehension. His voice is as frail as a daisy petal
and his voice wobbles like the last spin of a top. Please, let’s us be
merciful and send him packing. Tonight.
Something was amiss for Elliott. He seemed to be forcing the words
rather than owning the words. And those words rather than embracing us,
friction burned us. He can do so much better but he may have purchased a
ticket home. I hope not.
Strutting her stuff, blonde and full of what life can offer, Kellie
is ready for the big time. She connected with her audience like a pair of
tight jeans. She is a refreshing natural performer and all I can is
this….look out grandpa, here come the hounds. We are all howling for
Kellie.
Haunting our night dreams that we share with no one, that sexy easy
moving with slow hands Ace is back. His eyes penetrate us like a Teflon
coated slug, piercing our heart and making us die for more.
There are eleven hopefuls waiting for our votes. Do not disappoint
them.
