TV pop mogul Simon Cowell is amazed when people are offended by his vicious outbursts - because he's convinced everyone else is just as mean.

The American Idol tyrant is happy with his 'Mr Nasty' persona, as he knows he is only saying what viewers are thinking.

He says, "I have great faith in humanity because I think deep down, everyone's as bad as me.

"I try and say what I believe people at home are thinking. I loathe political correctness.

"It's one of the reasons why 'Idol' is successful, because it just speaks to the normal person."
