Britney Spears Songwriters Accuses Composer of Plagiarism  3/30/06

Britney Spears' songwriters have accused a South Korean composer of plagiarizing the star's 2005 song Do Somethin' and are seeking damages.

The fast-paced track, taken from Spears' Greatest Hits: My Prerogative album, failed to make much of an impact on the charts following its February 2005 release, charting at number 100 on America's Billboard Hot 100 and number six in the UK's top 40.

The tune's songwriters C Karlsson and H Jonback have filed a complaint through Universal Music Publishing Korea that composer Kim Do-Hyun had "partially plagiarized" the track for the Lee Hyo-Lee single Get Ya.

Get Ya appears on Hyo-Lee's second album, which hit South Korean music stores last month (FEB06).

Kevin Cho, general manager of Universal Music Publishing Korea, said the company were seeking a settlement of undisclosed terms.
