Kenny Rogers to Perform on the Results Show April 5
The fifth season of AMERICAN IDOL continued its phenomenal momentum as
the Top 10 finalists performed “songs of the 21st century” on Tuesday.
Last night, Shakira and Wyclef Jean performed the hit single “Hips Don’t
Lie” from Shakira’s album “Oral Fixation, vol. 2.” It was revealed
that Lisa Tucker received the fewest votes after Tuesday’s performance
show, ending her quest to become the next American Idol. Tucker, from
Anaheim, CA, sang “Because of You.”
AMERICAN IDOL-TUESDAY delivered a 12.9/32 among Adults 18-49 and won
its hour among all key measures. IDOL outperformed the combined 5-net
competition for the night with an enormous +47% advantage among Adults
18-49 (12.9 vs. 8.8), +59% among Adults 18-34 (11.3 vs. 7.1), +58% among
Teens (8.4 vs. 5.3) and +11% in Total Viewers (31.5 vs. 28.4 Mil).
Next week, the competition on television’s hottest show heats up when
the Top 9 finalists (Bucky Covington, Chris Daughtry, Taylor Hicks,
Elliott Yamin, Ace Young, Paris Bennett, Mandisa, Katharine McPhee and
Kellie Pickler) compete head-to-head again on Tuesday, April 4 (8:00-9:00
PM ET live/PT tape-delayed). The theme for the performance show will be
country music. Tune in the following night for a live performance by
country star Kenny Rogers, and find out who receives enough votes to stay
in the competition and who must go home on the results show Wednesday,
April 5 (9:00-9:32 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
