Harry Potter Scoops British Book Award  3/30/06

British author JK Rowling was celebrating last night (29MAR06) after her sixth Harry Potter story - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - won the British Book Of The Year award.

Rowling beat out competition from autobiographies by late radio DJ John Peel, British TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson and rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne to scoop the coveted prize voted for by the UK public.

She told the audience at the London awards ceremony, "I'm delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure to adults and children."

Rowling is currently working on the final installment of the magical series.
