NEW YORK, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 and producers Mark Cronin and
Cris Abrego are being faced with one of their biggest challenges yet ...
turning thirteen less-than-ladylike "Flavor of Love" contestants
into self-respecting, self-reliant women. On Sunday, April 15 at 10:00 PM*
"Flavor of Love" season one favorites Hottie, Goldie, Pumkin,
Rain, Serious and Smiley as well as season two break-out stars Bootz,
Buckeey, Buckwild, Krazy, Like Dat, Saaphyri and Toastee will enroll in
VH1's "Charm School."
And, the lessons won't be easy, especially with comedian Mo'Nique as
the headmistress. Upon meeting them, Mo'Nique lets them know that their
"Flavor of Love" stardom has also turned them into walking
punchlines. "America wasn't laughing with you," she tells them,
"they were laughing at you." Under Mo's tutelage, the
"Flavor of Love" cast-offs will be trained in proper etiquette
and have their social skills challenged to test their self-confidence,
composure and grace. The one left standing will receive a $50,000 prize.
Assisting Mo'Nique in evaluating the ladies' progress are judges Mikki
Taylor, Essence Magazine beauty director and cover editor; and Keith
Lewis, president of The Morgan Modeling & Talent Agency.
"Initially we had all the outrageous behavior you would expect
from this group, but actually, many of the women were surprisingly
transformed by the whole process. It's really an amazing thing to
see," said executive producer Cris Abrego. "It's funny and
moving at the same time to watch these ladies buff off their own rough
edges," said executive producer Mark Cronin. Both agreed "Mo'Nique
really brought a lot of inspiration, heart and humor to the girls. She
raised the level of the whole project."
In addition to hosting the sneak peek of episode one of "Flavor of
Love Girls: Charm School starring Mo'Nique," six days before the
on-air premiere, VSPOT, VH1's broadband channel (http://vspot.vh1.com),
will offer each full episode for a two-day period every Friday following
the broadcast airing. Additional broadband content will include VSPOT-exclusive
commentary from Mo'Nique and the ladies following each episode. VH1 Mobile
will also host exclusive video footage from the show every week.
Mo'Nique has been a star of the long-time hit series "The
Parkers" and is the first female comedian to host the music
television series "Showtime at the Apollo." She now brings her
transformational skills from "Mo'Nique's Fat Chance," a beauty
pageant for plus-size women, to VH1's "Flavor of Love Girls: Charm
School starring Mo'Nique."
VH1's "Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School starring Mo'Nique"
is created and executive produced by Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego for
Mindless Entertainment and 51 Pictures, who also produce the
record-breaking hits "Flavor of Love," "I Love New
York," "The Surreal Life" and "My Fair Brady."
Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes, Kristen Kelly, Stella Stolper and Michael
Hirschorn oversee the series for VH1.
