ABC'S "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" COMES TO THE AID OF A
CARING GRANDMOTHER AND HER FOUR GRANDCHILDREN WHO ARE LIVING IN A TRAILER
HELD TOGETHER BY DUCT TAPE
Hootie and the Blowfish Perform at a Fundraiser Concert
"Wilson Family" -- Ty and the gang will help build a new home
for the Wilson family of Longs, SC, who have been living in their
grandmother's run-down trailer, on "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition," SUNDAY, MARCH 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC
Television Network.
Hakeem, Tim, RJ and Erica Wilson live in the cramped quarters of their
grandmother's trailer. Natalie Wilson, who did not want to split the
children up in the foster care system years ago, has been working as a
school lunch lady to help support her grandchildren. Although this is the
most stable home the Wilson children have ever lived in, it is still an
undersized trailer that's literally held together with duct tape, has a
sagging roof, bad wiring, leaks and little to no insulation. Blankets and
plastic are kept over the windows to keep warm air in, and Natalie's
youngest grandchild, Erica, has to share a bed with her at night. Despite
the Wilson children's poor living conditions, their teachers have seen a
vast improvement in the kids since they moved in with their grandmother.
When asked what the children would like in their dream home, they all
responded with the same answer -- "my own dresser," since all
four children must share a closet and dresser. Natalie just wants a safe
home for her grandchildren that will provide them with a better sense of
security and allow them to thrive.
In this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," the
Wilson family will finally be able to move out of their trailer and into a
more comfortable and safer new home.
In addition, music group Hootie and the Blowfish perform at the House
of Blues in Myrtle Beach in a fundraiser concert for the family.
While Ty and the designers, local builder Hall Custom Homes and Classic
Home building & Design and hundreds of volunteers and workers are
rebuilding their home in a remarkable seven days, the Wilson family will
go on vacation to Walt Disney World.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition" will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Paul
DiMeo, Preston Sharp, Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen.
The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding.
It's executive-produced by Denise Cramsey. David Goldberg is the president
of Endemol USA.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish
subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG
parental guideline.
