Jennifer Hudson and Kanye West Go Back to School  3/22/07

Kanye West and Jennifer Hudson surprised students at a Chicago, Illinois high school on Monday (19MAR07) when they turned up to help celebrate the opening of the school's newly renovated gym.

The Dreamgirls singer/actress introduced West's performance to the 1,700-strong crowd at the Richards High School in Oak Lawn, which was also celebrating the introduction of a new scholarship program sponsored by basketball star Dwayne Wade.

Wade, who also helped to fund the gym's upgrade, is a former pupil at the school and joined the congregation via satellite.

He says, "It's important to me to give back to the communities I grew up in.

I've received a lot of opportunities in my life and I'm grateful for (sponsor) T-Mobile Sidekick's help in making my dream of giving back to Richards High a reality."
