Joss Stone Closes Her Eyes to Beat Stage Fright 3/28/07

British soul star Joss Stone performs concerts with her eyes closed because it's the only way she can beat crippling stage fright.

The singer was told to avoid looking at her fans when she performed live to help combat her nerves.

She says, "I close my eyes a lot. I don't want to know that everybody is staring at me, and judging me, whether they like my clothes of the color of my hair.

"I go into another place. When I open my eyes, that's when I start giggling and everything, when I realize, 'Oh no, everybody's looking at me.'"
