Joss Stone Wears Shoes for James Brown  3/28/07

British soul star Joss Stone was forced to ditch her on-stage ritual of performing barefoot - at the request of the late James Brown.

The singer abandoned her "no shoes" rule for the Godfather of Soul after he asked her to sport footwear for a past gig, because he was "the nicest man in the world".

She says, "He is the only man I ever wore shoes for on stage.

"I loved him. James was like the nicest person in the world. One time he called me in to say how proud he was."

And the star confesses her reasoning behind appearing shoe-less on stage.

She says, "Because I get nervous, I don't want to fall over."
