Heather Mills' Dance Floor Meltdown as Leg Slides Away  4/1/07

Celebrity amputee Heather Mills suffered embarrassment of epic proportions when she first hit the dance floor after a motorbike accident claimed her leg.

The former model, who is now a contestant on US talent show Dancing With the Stars, admits the dance floor hasn't always been her friend - it was the scene of one of her worst memories.

She recalls, "When you lose your leg, you think, `Can I do this, can I do that?' And I didn't have anybody to look to to teach me or let me know it was gonna be OK.

"I went on the disco floor and of course everyone's a bit drunk and all the lights are flashing everywhere, and I'm dancing away and I'm thinking, `Oh, this is great, I feel so free,'

"But the socket got heated up, because it's made of silicon, and it just fell and the leg just slid along the dance floor.

"Of course, half the people were drunk or off their heads on stuff, so they were completely freaking out because it was a leg that looked really real.

You can't just pick it up and put it on, you've gotta kinda pull your trousers down and adjust it, so I kinda got my leg, put it under my arm and hopped out the disco and just fell through a fire escape (door) and hitched my skirt and trousers down and popped it back on."
