"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" GIVES A MODERN DAY "BRADY
BUNCH" WHO KEEP KIDS OFF THE STREET AND HELP THE MENTALLY CHALLENGED IN
THEIR COMMUNITY THE HOME THEY TRULY DESERVE
"Turner Family" -- The Turner family of Fairmont, West Virginia
learned the thrilling news that Ty and the designers of "Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition" will be remodeling their home to create enough space for
their blended family of seven to enjoy, on "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition," SUNDAY, MARCH 9 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television
Network.
When they married in 2003, Angie and Richard Turner transformed their family
into a modern day "Brady Bunch." Angie, her daughter Theresa, and sons
Tyron and Desmond welcomed Richard, his daughter Layton and cousin Michael into
their home after the marriage. In addition to dedicating their lives to their
children, the Turners serve as positive role models for local youth, as they
strive to keep children off the streets by coaching football, basketball and
cheerleading, fundraising and mentoring.
While keeping the local kids on track, the Turners are also care takers for
mentally challenged adults. They hope to open up their own business to help the
mentally challenged someday. But the Turner's rotting home, which measures less
than 600 square feet, is too small for this caring family of seven. The flooring
is unstable, the kitchen cabinets are falling off and there isn't even enough
sleeping space for the whole family. Teresa and Layton share a bed, while
Desmond, Aldric and Michael sleep on the floor. There is simply not enough room
for the family to function or even eat dinner together at the dining room table.
Now it's time for Ty and his crew to return the kindness and generosity that
this big-hearted family has shown to the community.
While Ty and the designers, local builder Huffman Corporation and the
hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home, the Turner family
will go on vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition" will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Tanya
McQueen, Didiayer, Ed Sanders and Eduardo Xol.
The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's
executive-produced by Denise Cramsey. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol
USA. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish
subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental
guideline.
This episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will be available
on ABC.com the day after airing on the network for users to watch online.
