Madonna
Finally Finds Hall of Fame Honor "Flattering"
3/4/08
Pop superstar Madonna initially bulked at the prospect of her upcoming
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction - because she was scared she would be
thought of as a "musical dinosaur".
The 49-year-old was hesitant about receiving the tribute - which will
see her 25-year musical career celebrated alongside other such artists as
Leonard Cohen in New York this month (10Mar08).
But the Material Girl star now accepts that being selected for the
prize - honoring legendary performers chosen by a more than 700 rock
experts - is in fact hugely "flattering".
The Music singer says, "I heard about it and I kind of felt
ambivalent, like, 'What is that, the place they put musical dinosaurs?'
"I didn't really know what to think of it. But then lots of people
explained to me that it's an acknowledgement of singers and songwriters
who have made a contribution in the world of music for 25 years, and so
eventually I came around to the idea that it was flattering."
