Kate Beckinsale Gives Up on Driving  3/19/08

British actress Kate Beckinsale has given up on driving - after failing to land a license in California.

The star concedes she is the only celebrity in Los Angeles who can't drive, and is convinced her nine-year-old daughter will be mobile before her.

She says, "I applied for my permit and then I failed the written test. It was 'how many units of alcohol are you permitted to have' I don't know that.

"My daughter's nine. Soon she will have passed her test, then she can drive me around. Or I'll get one of those old persons' motorized chairs.
