Rocker Confides He Wants to Get Married, Opens Up About Fame and
Partying With Hollywood Fan Tobey Maguire
LOS ANGELES, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- E! News' Giuliana DePandi and
American Idol cast-off Constantine Maroulis took a bite out of the Big
Apple as the young rocker returned home to Manhattan following his cast
off from the hit series. Constantine took Giuliana along as he made an
appearance this morning (Monday, May 2) on "Live with Regis and
Kelly," and afterwards, he showed off his favorite hometown hangouts
in the East Village. During the daylong adventure, Constantine opens up to
E! News about his pre-Idol days and reveals his plans for the future,
including his musical career, partying and eventually settling down with
the right woman.
Despite the heartthrob image that earned him legions of female fans,
Constantine admits that growing up, he was anything but a ladies man.
"I was like a huge geek," said Constantine. "Honestly,
short hair, acne-faced, chorus geek ... theater geek. Then, I don't know,
one day I just kind of grew my hair and people started paying attention to
me."
At age 29, Constantine remains true to his rock star attitude but
admits that his wild partying days are behind him, "I think I'd like
to meet a nice girl and settle down and share this whole experience,"
said Maroulis. "It's been really cool and I definitely look forward
to having a family and getting married."
Rest assured, before settling down, he plans to make the most of his
newfound fame. His band Pray for the Soul of Betty is releasing an album
and he has also been taking meetings with casting directors and other
Hollywood insiders regarding a possible career in acting. Among his fans
are Tobey Maguire, who recently invited him to his girlfriend's surprise
party after running into them at a club, and Brian May, the guitarist from
Queen, who surprised Constantine with glowing comments on his website
following his rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody." Said
Constantine, "Maybe we'll do something together in the future. That
would be really cool ... Freddy Mercury was a huge inspiration to me when
I was a kid."
