Oprah
Treats Jerry O'Connell to a Home Makeover
5/3/05
Actor Jerry O'Connell was so concerned his new girlfriend Rebecca
Romijn would dump him after visiting his messy bachelor pad, he called in
Oprah Winfrey to help him transform the place.
The media mogul commissioned her favorite designer Nate Berkus to
revamp the college dorm-style home.
O'Connell confessed, "I am beyond embarrassed. My big problem is
bringing my girlfriend here."
Before the home makeover, the 31-year-old actor used a ping-pong table
as his dining table and had a treadmill and two thrift store armchairs in
his living room.
He told Berkus that he had held back from redesigning his home because
he didn't have a clue about decorating the place.
He added, "At one time I didn't care what people thought, but now
that I'm 30, and I'm entering different stage in my life, I just can't
bring anyone up here. I have zero design capabilities."
O'Connell was brought to tears with the stylish makeover when Berkus
unveiled a huge painting by his artist father Michael O'Connell in his
bedroom.
The thrilled star then invited former model Romijn to check out his new
home.
She said, "I love it. There's so many places to put your cocktail
down, besides a ping-pong table." |
