Cameron Diaz Sues Sun Newspaper Over Affair Reports  5/13/05

Hollywood beauty Cameron Diaz is suing Britain's The Sun newspaper after they claimed she was having an affair with her married travel show producer.

The Sun reported yesterday (12MAY05) Diaz and Shane Nickerson - who produces her MTV show Trippin' - were spotted in a romantic clinch outside a Santa Monica, California studio.

Diaz has been in a two-year relationship with singer Justin Timberlake, while Nickerson and his wife Elisa have a baby daughter Lucy.

Diaz's lawyers at Schillings said the paper's front page was "falsely alleging that she had embarked upon a secret affair with a married man".

A statement from the actress says, "Cameron Diaz has today instructed her solicitors Schillings to issue and serve libel proceedings against the publishers of The Sun newspaper."

Diaz V The Sun is expected to go to trial in London in October (05).

Meanwhile, Timberlake is suing Sunday tabloid News of the World - who shares the same parent company News International with The Sun - in an unconnected case.

In 2004, the NOTW published an interview with model Lucy Clarkson, who claimed she had sexual intercourse with Timberlake on two occasions, while he was dating Diaz.
