Evangeline Lilly Felt Pressure to be Thin for Show 5/3/06

Lost beauty Evangeline Lily felt under pressure to lose every extra scrap of excess weight after she landed her role on the hit TV show. 

The 26-year-old, who plays Kate Austen, felt secure with her sexy body before being offered the part, but she quickly succumbed to the Hollywood obsession for extreme weight loss. 

She says, "I went from, 'Yeah, I'm in shape and I can go to the beach and be comfortable,' to, 'I'm going to be on national television and every ounce of body fat needs to go.' "I slimmed as hard as I could. I continue to. People don't say it, but it's just there in the way clothes are supposed to fit and in the way that what's held up as beautiful is being way too thin."
