John Mayer Hailed for Songwriting Talents  5/5/06

Grammy Award winner John Mayer's glittering career will get another boost when he picks up the Starlight Award at this year's (06) Songwriters Hall Of Fame Awards.

The Daughters hit maker is just the third musician to be honored with the award, which was introduced in 2004 to celebrate young songwriters who have already made a lasting impression on the industry.

Matchbox Twenty singer Ron Thomas and R&B star Alicia Keys are the previous winners.

The June (06) ceremony in New York will see Thom Bell, Mac Davis, Will Jennings, Sylvia Moy and Henry Cosby inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
