Plenty American Idol betting odds as show winds down for this season
and finale quickly approaches
Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) May 14, 2006 -- With the American Idol finale
quickly approaching May 24 and the betting odds selection dwindling down,
this week's Chris Daughtry elimination and the ensuing controversy has
opened up an opportunity for additional betting odds.
"Considering how insanely popular American Idol has become among
gamblers, it would not be surprising to see these online gambling
companies start offering odds on Chris Daughtry's future," commented
Gambling911.com President Christopher Costigan. "Daughtry probably
has had more search engine inquiries this week than just about any other
big name celebrity."
Potential betting odds on Chris Daughtry might involve his decision to
join the rock band Fuel or front his own band. Will he be brought back
onto American Idol after it is determined there was a problem with voting?
Of course there is always the fun betting props involving whether Daughtry
comes forward to announce he and Paula Abdul were having an affair.
At press time, Sunday May 14, there is definitely a feeling that a
backlash could take place against Katharine McPhee, whose odds of being
eliminated this week are about the same as Elliott Yamin at 2 to 1 (or $2
is paid out for every $1 bet).
"The best betting value can be had early in the season,"
Costigan explained. "Elliott Yamin had odds of around 64 to 1 of
winning American Idol. Even Taylor Hicks, the current favorite, had odds
around 10 to 1 at most online gambling websites. But shockers like the one
we witnessed this past week still offer great payout potential. Chris
Daughtry being voted off was the biggest payout thus far since he had odds
of 12 to 1 or higher of getting eliminated, and that would translate into
approximately $1200 for every $100 bet."
It is not as if the online gambling websites are feeling any pain from
Chris being voted off. The majority of American Idol bettors had money on
Chris Daughtry winning the competition.
Online gambling companies that have offered odds on American Idol continue
to make a killing. One claims it will take in more than the 10,000 bets it
booked on the 2004 Presidential Election, another says American Idol will
surpass the NBA Playoffs in terms of overall betting action.
Not surprisingly, Gambling911.com has been the biggest beneficiary of
American Idol betting enthusiasts.
"Our site received a record 1000 unique visitors in a single minute
at 10:01 pm Eastern Standard Time Wednesday night immediately following
the 'Results' show," Costigan disclosed. "We also broke a single
day traffic record thanks to the show with just shy of 71,000 unique
visitors. In comparison, the average circulation for a decent size print
publication is a little over 100,000 for an entire month."
Gambling911.com is also among the most sought after websites by media
outlets regarding the subject of American Idol betting. Costigan has
appeared on a few Fox television affiliates and the site has been
mentioned in countless newspaper publications.
The Gambling911.com website will be offering full coverage of American
Idol betting odds right up until the May 24 Finale.
