Oprah Winfrey Signs Weight Battle Book Deal 5/22/06 Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has signed the biggest non-fiction book deal in history to write about her weight loss battle. The 52-year-old will be paid more than $12 million by publishers Simon & Schuster to share her struggles with the world. She recently said of her weight, which yo-yos between 145 and 210 kilograms, "It's always a struggle. I've felt safer and more protected when I was heavy. Food has always been comforting."
