JD Roberto "Love Coach" on the ABC Television Network's
"How to Get the Guy"
JD Roberto is a Renaissance man in every sense of the word, having
spent time as an actor, writer and relationship connoisseur. An honors
graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he
studied acting, JD's training includes Master Classes with the Royal
Shakespeare Company, Uta Hagan, and as an exchange student at the
International Theatre School of Holland.
Since graduation, JD has kept quite busy by making his mark in a
variety of media, playing a series of different roles. His film credits
include "Nautilus," "'Til Night," "The Mask of
Zorro," the award-winning short film "Moment of Silence"
(which he also produced and edited), and a slew of independent feature
films he openly admits he hopes nobody ever sees again. On television he
has made appearances on shows like "Frasier," "All My
Children," "Passions," "General Hospital, "
"Family Matters" and "Step by Step." He also had a
recurring role on "The New Adventures of Robin Hood." In
addition to performing on screen, he has also returned to his roots on
stage. His theatre credits include performances at New York's Theatre for
the New City, SoHo Rep, Playwrights Horizons, The Metropolitan Opera and
The Laguna Playhouse, where he played the title role in the critically
acclaimed production of "Picasso at the Lapin Agile."
Aside from acting, JD has also hosted several popular television
series. As a host, he has had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of
experiences that range from playing with Burmese pythons and pygmy goats
on Animal Planet's "You Lie Like a Dog," to trekking the
American wild on Outdoor Life Network's "Great Hikes," and
hand-feeding Caribbean reef sharks on Travel Channel's "Shark
Chasers." He's also been seen on TBS as the host of the reality
program "Outback Jack," as a guest host for "E! News
Live" and on ABC's "Are You Hot?"
After nearly a decade as a self-described "serial
monogamist," JD met the love of his life, Karen, and the two have
been married now for over seven years. In his free time JD is an avid
adventure traveler, as he and his wife have spent months on end with packs
strapped to their backs touring the globe. With over 50 counties to their
credit, the pair have packed their way through much of the world, with
stops in Western and Eastern Europe, the Baltics, Russia, Mexico, Central
America, North America, South America, the Middle East, India, Australia,
New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
JD and Karen's greatest adventure to date has been the arrival of their
child, Enzo, born on location in San Francisco during production on
"How to Get the Guy." And yes, Enzo already has a passport.
