Jennifer Lopez and LL Cool J Lawsuit Dismissed  5/30/06

Jennifer Lopez and rapper LL Cool J were celebrating on Wednesday (24MAY06) when a lawsuit filed against them was thrown out of a California court.

An appeals court judge dismissed a case filed in 2003 by singer Debra Laws, claiming the stars misappropriated her 1981 song Very Special in their 2002 duet All I Have.

The court decided Laws did not have a case against the artists or Sony Music since Sony had properly obtained a license to use a 10-second segment of the song.

The judge advised Laws that she should instead sue her record label and publisher for breach of contract for entering a license agreement without her authorization.
