Paris Hilton Fires Publicist After Jail Stunner  5/7/07

Paris Hilton has sacked the publicist she holds responsible for her upcoming jail spell, according to US reports.

The socialite, 26, will spend 45 days in a California correctional facility after she was found guilty for violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license in court on Friday (04May07).

And she maintains she would not have been driving her Bentley around Hollywood if she'd have known her license had been suspended.

In testimony on Friday, Hilton's publicist Elliott Mintz told Judge Michael T. Sauer that neither he nor his client were aware her license had been suspended, following a drink driving arrest last year (Sep06).

The judge called Mintz's testimony "completely worthless", adding that Hilton had paperwork in her car stating that her license had been suspended.

But upon hearing the verdict, Hilton appealed, "I don't know what happened. I did what they (handlers) said... I just sign what people tell me to sign."

During the two-hour hearing at a Los Angeles court, Paris blamed Mintz for her mistake, telling the judge her publicist had told her that her license was only suspended for 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters.

Hilton, who is planning to appeal Friday's verdict, fired Mintz over the weekend, according to In Touch Weekly magazine.
