“The Final Trio”

We are now down to the final trio of finalist for this season’s American Idol.

Before we discuss who was given the ticket home, we need to briefly review last night’s show. All four singers, Blake, Melinda, LaKisha and Jordin, sang twice and with perhaps Jordin being the only exception, they sang poorly. Why is that? After all, this is the crunch time when extraordinary performances are expected. 

Every musical note, every facial feature, every gesture and every vocal must be perfect. And last night was far from perfection. Perhaps they were too nervous? Perhaps the pressure is too much for them to handle? But, what were they thinking? This is their one big chance to prove to themselves and more importantly, prove to America that they have what it takes to be the next American Idol. It is kind of like being given a one time offer to drive Ferrari. You will have just one opportunity to make it hum. Do you go gentle like a senior citizen driving to the dry cleaners? Or do you let it rip like a lightning bolt shattering the sky.

Last night, three of the four sang like that senior citizen.

So, after 45+ million votes, who is going home? It is LaKisha, a single mother raising an adorable 3 year old daughter. It is LaKisha who has overcome so very much in her life due to drive, courage and talent. Have we seen the last of her? Absolutely no way. This very talented woman will be back with her own CD and we all need to buy a copy.

Next week we will hear from the final three. And they have all better be at the very top of their game.
