Leona Lewis Puts US Plans on Hold After Illness  5/14/07

The X Factor winner Leona Lewis has been forced to put her plans to break America on hold after falling ill due to her hectic recording schedule.

The singer - who landed a $10 million (#5 million) record deal in the US after triumphing on the British TV talent contest in December last year (06) - is suffering from tonsillitis, and Stateside producers have insisted she temporarily rests her voice and returns to the UK.

Her father Joe says, "She has been overdoing it. The expectations on her are so great. She's in the studio every day, late into the night. Now her producers have stopped until her voice gets better."
