American Idol Results Show May 16, 2007

The three remaining American Idol contestants are: young and vivacious Jordin Sparks, seasoned professional Melinda Doolittle, and the beatbox echo machine Blake Lewis. One of them is heading home while the other two return next week to battle for the title of American Idol. 

While we waited for the voters’ decision, we shared the hometown visits of all three singers. It was quite evident that Jordin was absolutely swept away by the out-pouring of love and affection that both her high school and her entire town bestowed upon her. At just 17 years of age, her life is changing before her very eyes. She will never again be “just Jordin.” And of course both Melinda and Blake had an out pouring from their respective hometowns, but there was just something very genuine about Jordin’s experience that could not be denied.

Finally after almost 60 million cast votes, it is Melinda who will be leaving. Frankly, I am surprised that Blake is still standing due to his limited appeal and vocal range, and with his total dependence upon Beatbox. But there you have it; the finalists are Jordin and Blake.
