Nick Cannon Fronts New Anti-Smoking Ad  5/18/07

Rapper/actor Nick Cannon has become the new spokesperson for the American Legacy Foundation's anti-smoking campaign, Truth.

The Gigolo hit maker uses satire to get the message across to youths in the organization's latest TV advertising campaign, which began airing in the US earlier this week (14May07).

In the advert, Cannon is quizzed by documentary maker Derrick Beckles, who asks him about his confidence problems, before shocking the hip-hop star with a document detailing the way tobacco companies viewed African-Americans.

Handing the papers to Cannon, he reads, "Back in the 80's, tobacco companies labeled African-Americans as less-educated, prefer malt-liquor and have problems with their own self-esteem."

The truth campaign is targeted at African-American youths and the adverts will run until July (07), reports AllHipHop.com.
