11/9/05
NASHVILLE,
Tenn., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Sixteen-year-old Glennville, Georgia native
Katelyn Tarver has inked a recording agreement with New York- based record
label TC Music. Her high-energy pop debut Wonderful Crazy features songs
written and produced by Mattias Gustafsson (Backstreet Boys) and Kevin
Savigar (Josh Gracin, Rod Stewart), as well as popular Christian recording
artist Scott Krippayne, who wrote the title track.
Katelyn
was a finalist on the hit FOX TV series American Idol Juniors, performing
to an audience of over 35 million people and earning praise from celebrity
judges like Deborah Gibson, Gladys Knight, Brian McKnight and host Ryan
Seacrest. After the show, Katelyn returned to Georgia and began recording
demos and performing numerous concerts in the southeastern part of the
United States. She was signed to TC Music in the summer of 2004, after one
of those demos found its way to TC Music label head Tom Bradley.
"When
my wife Concett and I saw Katelyn perform for the first time, we just
looked at each other and said, 'She's got it!'" says Bradley. "Katelyn
has that rare combination. She has the talent, beauty and personality of a
star but the humility and compassion that you would look for in your best
friend."
In
the past year, Katelyn has been featured in a variety of print ads and
television commercials including Conair and VH1, and can be seen as
"Barbie" in the upcoming feature film The Barbie Diaries based
on the popular Mattel toy. Katelyn spent the summer co-headlining the 2005
Camplified Tour with Epic Records recording artist Nikki Flores, and she's
also been touring the country in recent months performing at major venues
with such artists as Jesse McCartney, Hope Partlow, Jeff Foxworthy, Skye
Sweetham, and American Idol alumni Bo Bice and Kimberly Locke. Katelyn has
also signed with Wilhelmina Modeling Agency (New York), Abrams Artist
Management and Val's Artist Management for print, on-camera and commercial
vocal representation.
Major
marketing and a promotional tour will keep Katelyn occupied well into
2006. On November 22nd, Katelyn will be in Los Angeles to walk the red
carpet at the American Music Awards, and she walked the red carpet at last
month's world premiere of the latest VeggieTales DVD, The Lord of the
Beans, in Nashville. Katelyn traveled to Dallas last week to meet with
executives at Radio Disney and taped interview segments for the network.
The title track "Wonderful Crazy" will be worked to multiple
radio formats with a music video shot before year's end. Katelyn will also
be featured in numerous teen and entertainment-related publications,
including Super Model Unlimited and American Cheerleader Magazine. Recent
television appearances include FamilyNet's daily talk show At Home Live;
CBS 11 News This Morning (Dallas); Live at 5 (Knoxville); Mid Morning Live
(Savannah) and more. Promotional stops in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta
and Nashville are planned for November.
