Lindsay Lohan Checked Tattoo With Italian Grandmother  11/26/05

Lindsay Lohan had to consult her grandmother over her latest tattoo, as she wanted to ensure her tribute to her late grandfather was correct.

The Mean Girls star decided to get 'la vita e bella' (life is beautiful) engraved on her lower back but wasn't sure of the correct spelling.

She says, "I was on the phone with my grandmother when I got it because she's Italian and I wasn't sure.

"People were telling me all different ways to say it and I said, `Well, I don't (want to) have the wrong meaning on my back tattooed for life."

The actress insists the tattoo - her second - was relatively painless: "I was eating ice-cream when I got this one. I was shocked that it didn't hurt."

Lohan now plans to have the word 'breathe' tattooed on her forearm - to commemorate her role in upcoming John Lennon movie Chapter 27.

Her latest tattoo recalls Lennon's famous quote "You are all geniuses, and you are all beautiful. You don't need anyone to tell you who you are.

"You are what you are. Get out there and get peace, think peace, live peace, and breathe peace, and you'll get it as soon as you like."
