Jamie Foxx Undergoes Surgery for Gland Problem  11/16/06

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is recovering after a regular check-up prompted him to go under the knife to have a gland removed from his neck.

The Ray star was told a parathyroid gland wasn't functioning properly and would have to be cut out.

The parathyroid controls blood calcium levels in the body and if it's failing to do its job, it can affect the nervous and muscular systems in the body.

The secret surgery took place last month (OCT06) and Foxx is said to be recovering well after his initial panic.

A source says, "Jamie was a wreck before the surgery because he hates not being in control."
