Pop star Kelly Clarkson has given some sound advice to fellow reality show
winner Leona Lewis - warning the British singer to stand up for herself
against
Simon
Cowell.
The Since You've Been Gone hit maker was crowned winner of 2002's American
Idol - Cowell's U.S. equivalent to U.K. talent show Pop Idol - but
clashed with the music mogul and her J Records label boss Clive Davis over
the musical direction of her latest disc, My December.
And Clarkson has urged Lewis to "fight" for what she believes
in - even if her mentor Cowell disagrees.
She says, "If I've one bit of advice for her, it would be that, no
matter where you have come from, you must stick to your guns.
"I have had to fight for certain things and you always will in
this industry."
Lewis won The X
Factor - another of Cowell's hit TV contests - in 2006, and stormed to
the top of the British singles chart with her song, Bleeding Love, on
Sunday (28Oct07).
