Plans to launch a spin-off show of hit NBC series Heroes have been shelved
because of planned strikes by scriptwriters.
It was hoped that Heroes: Origins would feature 30 episodes and be
ready for transmission next year - but the looming strike by the Writers
Guild of America means the project has been put on hold for the time
being.
Moviehole.net reports, "NBC entertainment co-chairs Ben Silverman
and Marc Graboff didn't want to move forward given the uncertainties of a
possible WGA work stoppage.
"But insiders cautioned that Heroes: Origins isn't completely dead
and could very well be revived at a later date, perhaps as soon as next
season."
