Johnny Depp quickly grew sick of the sight of blood on the set of new
musical Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - because it was
everywhere.
Director Tim Burton insisted on a bloody mess as his ghoulish barber
slashed clients in gory scenes.
Depp says, "I remember everyone except me being covered in plastic
trash bags. There'd be a countdown: 'Three, two, one... action!' And then
blammo...
the great deluge.
"It tasted kind of like a Karo-syrupy sort of thing. It was oily
and it was dangerous, slippery.
"You'd see these big English grips, tiptoeing through the swamp of
blood."
