Actress/model Jenny McCarthy instinctively knows when her autistic son is
suffering a seizure - even if she's in another state.
The former Playboy pin-up insists mothers have a magical connection to
their children, which alerts them to health crises and allows them to act
on instinct.
And when McCarthy's young son Evan started suffering seizures, the
blonde just knew something was wrong even if she was working hundreds of
miles away from him.
She says, "Women are really born with this wonderful instinct to
know when something is wrong with your child.
"When I was working in Las Vegas I was actually doing a scene when
I stopped production and I started shaking and my sister said, 'What's
wrong?' and I said, 'I think Evan is having a seizure.'
"I picked up the phone and my husband at the time said, 'I just
called 911; Evan's having a seizure right now.'
"Then it happened again when I was in Canada... and I called and
they were in an ambulance."
But McCarthy insists she's not exceptional - just a mum who is in tune
with her son: "Mothers, please tune in to your child's health, that
wonderful thing that we have because it's very, very real."
