Gloria Estefan will hit the dance floor on U.S. reality show Dancing With
the Stars on Tuesday (13Nov07) after postponing a recent appearance to
care for her ailing mum.
The Latina cancelled a performance on the show last month (Oct07) after
cancelling all her commitments to spend time with her sick mother, but she
has rescheduled the appearance.
She says, "I'll be on to fulfill my commitment. I was really sad
that I had to cancel. But I had to be with my mom, no two ways about it.
She was really, really ill."
The singer's mother, Gloria Fajardo, was at one point fighting for her
life in an intensive care unit in a Miami, Florida hospital after
emergency surgery.
Doctors discovered an intestinal rupture that had caused a severe
infection and opted to operate on the 78-year-old.
Ms.
Estefan will be performing the dance favorite "Conga" off of the
1985 Primitive Love album from Miami Sound Machine and "A Bailar"
from her latest album, 90 Millas. 90 Millas debuted at #1 on the Latin
Billboard charts and features the #1 single, "No Llores."
Fatima Robinson, world-famous choreographer to stars including Prince,
Michael Jackson and Rihanna, will take to the "Dancing" stage
for her first televised dancing performance in six years in a special
Stars of Dance presented by Macy's performance.
Late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel ("Jimmy Kimmel Live")
returns for another special segment.
By evening's end, the couple with the lowest composite score will be
eliminated, as determined by a combination of the judges' scores and
viewers' votes.
