Colin
Farrell Campaigns for Better Child Care in Ireland
11/26/07
Actor Colin Farrell has hit out at Ireland's "unacceptable"
levels of care for children in need of help.
The Miami Vice star was in his hometown of Dublin on Sunday (25Nov07)
to promote the fourth annual Abrakebabra For Childline Day.
Abrakebabra is a local fast-food chain that will donate all the money
they earn on Sunday to Childline, a hotline for kids to phone when they
need advice and support.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's event, Farrell said, "Childline can't
answer two out of every five calls. It's unacceptable in a country that is
as affluent as we are. We are obliged to take care of those who cannot
take care of themselves."
Farrell recently revealed his four-year-old son James suffers from a
rare form of cerebral palsy known as Angelman Syndrome which affects his
speech and motor skills.
He adds, "As a father myself, nothing is more important to me than
the welfare of children, and Childline is such a vital service."
