Pop star Melanie Brown became one of the most protected people in Hollywood as she prepared for the Dancing With the Stars finale in the same week as the beginning of the Spice Girls reunion tour.

The singer's dancing partner on the hit U.S. TV show has revealed the singer was surrounded by "crash mats" as she rehearsed for her performance in the finals - because no one wanted her injured for the start of the Spice Girls tour in Canada on Sunday (02Dec07).

Dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy explains, "Mel is a very expensive entity; she is expensive for the show (Dancing With The Stars) and also for the Spice Girls tour, so we don't want any accidents."
