Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Joe Namath in New Movie  11/29/07

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to play beloved American football rogue Joe Namath in a new biopic.

The Hall of Fame quarterback for the New York Jets, whose high-living party lifestyle earned the  flamboyant stud the nickname Broadway Joe, has personally given Gyllenhall the OK to play him in the untitled film.

Producer Andrew Lazar has been trying to get the movie rights to Namath's life for years, according to trade paper Daily Variety.
