Angelina
Jolie: "Iraq Money is Diminishing AIDS Budget"
10/2/05
Actress and human rights campaigner Angelina Jolie is enraged by the
staggering funds America pours into the war in Iraq, compared to the
amount donated to fighting Aids and HIV.
The Mr and Mrs
Smith actress, whose adoptive daughter Zarhara's parents are believed
to have been Aids victims, is desperately trying to build awareness in the
corporate world, as business figures have the power to pressurize the
governments.
She says, "I'm not saying I'm for or against war, but the amount
that is spent every month, being, I think they said, five billion dollars,
and to realize that we're spending 15 billion on AIDS, for over, what is
it? Three years, five years?"
