VH1 Announces "But Can They Sing"  10/5/05

Morgan Fairchild, Kim Alexis, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Larry Holmes, Joe Pantoliano, Bai Ling, Carmine Gotti, Michael Copon and Myrka Dellanos Are Tapped to Hit the Stage in This Six-Week Competition Ahmet Zappa Will Host America Will Decide On The Winner

NEW YORK, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- They can act, model and even box, but can they sing? That's the question VH1 will ask and answer this fall with the new series "But Can They Sing?" when nine celebrities vie for the chance to prove to America whether they should stick to their day job or tough it out over six weeks to become a pop star.

Actors Morgan Fairchild, Joe Pantaliano, Bai Ling, Antonio Sabato, Jr, Michael Copon, model Kim Alexis, Carmine Gotti, heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and Latin entertainer/journalist Myrka Dellanos have been chosen to compete against one another in this new original series premiering Sunday, October 30 at 10PM*.

Each week, these hopefuls will undergo grueling and intensive training with two prominent vocal coaches and one movement/dance instructor to prepare for their performance in front of a live studio audience at the end of the week.

VH1 will then turn the decision over to America, who will have the chance through online voting at VH1's broadband network Vspot (vspot.vh1.com), text messaging and a toll free number, to decide who stays and who goes home. The winner of the competition will receive a cash donation to their favorite charity.

For more information on "But Can They Sing?" viewers can go to VH1.com.

"But Can They Sing?" is produced by Granada America, the producers of such TV hits as VH1'S "Celebrity Fit Club" "Hell's Kitchen," "Nanny 911," and "Airline". Kanpai Pictures' Jay Karas and Andee Kuroda are the Executive Producers for Granada America along with Paul Jackson and Curt Northrup. Jeff Olde, Lee Rolontz and Claire McCabe are Executive Producers for VH1. The series will be shot in Los Angeles.
