Catherine Zeta-Jones Baffled by Accident Report  10/17/05

Catherine Zeta Jones is amazed a minor car crash in Mexico has been transformed into a false kidnapping scandal.

The Welsh actress, who is married to Michael Douglas, was driving back from the set of new film The Legend of Zorro when her driver's vehicle collided with another car.

The accident was nothing but a little prang, but some publications have printed stories that bandits tried to run the actress off the road - so they could kidnap her.

Zeta-Jones says, "It was overblown to the point of the ridiculous. I had my mother calling me. I had about 50 emails and I had to get back to them because they're concerned for my safety. I am fine, thanks.

"It was nothing more than a harmless fender bender - nothing, no spin out, no screeching."
