The
Amazing Race DVD, The First Season 10/17/05
A
review by Marcus
Bored
with the monotonous humdrum yawn of everyday life and work? Feeling like a
couch potato? Weary of the same milieu? Wanna try something different
before you are too old? Then this four-disc tape is for you!
This
is the launch of “The Amazing Race” series. And what an exciting
introduction. The producers had a novel idea for a television program.
Okay, I realize that “novel” and “television” is an oxymoron, but
this time their idea was brilliant. First, select normal folks of
different ages, different races, different sexual orientations, different
personalities, and challenge them to race tens of thousands of miles
through exotic and often chaotic lands, all for the opportunity of winning
a million bucks.
You
will find it difficult to take a break from watching these DVDs. You will
want to learn more about the competitors and their interpersonal
relationships. You will have moments of highs and lows as your cheer your
particular team and see other teams unravel. There are 90 minutes of
un-televised scenes. Discover how this entire entertainment concept
started from a college backpacker travels.
And
please, whatever you do, absolutely do not miss the deleted Tunisian
massage sequence and do not miss the sushi Ostrich egg challenge.
My
recommendation: buy this DVD. And then after watching, start traveling.
